Accountability Partners

Accountability partners are people with whom you share your goals so that they can also hold you accountable, checking in with you on your goals and encouraging you on your progress. When you have an accountability partner, there is the extra motivation of not letting them down, as well as the encouragement they offer you when you are doing well.

 

 

An accountability partner might be:

  • A friend
  • A colleague who you work closely with
  • Your line manager
  • A mentor or coach

 

Qualities to look for in an accountability partner might include:

  • Has your best interests at heart
  • Can stand up and hold you accountable with ‘tough love’
  • Understands your goals
  • Is neutral and objective in the situation
  • Is willing to call you out on bad habits or patterns
  • Is also actively pursuing their own goals
  • Understands your profession or field
  • Is willing to meet regularly with you face to face/by video conference
