Which Model Do You Want to Use?
Try the following exercise twice – once for workday and once on a non-work day.
Here’s the scenario:
Imagine it’s your last day before vacation and you have a long task list.
- Make a list of the things you might need to do for the day and estimate the time you expect to spend on each item.
Pick the prioritization model you want to follow:
- Covey’s Matrix
- Eat that Frog (worst thing first)
- Rocks, Pebbles and Sand
- 4 D’s – Do, Delegate, Delay or Delete
After you’ve implemented one of these prioritization models for the day, take a moment to reflect. What went well? Were you more productive? Did your priorities take you as long as you thought they would? Are there any things you would do differently next time?
